The film "The godfather" from the novel by Mario Puzo and directed by Francis Ford Coppola has brought to attention the phenomenon of the Sicilian mafia, sewing on Sicilians a stereotyped image that will hardly be able to eliminate.

With this excursion we offer you a tour of the discovery of the traditional and evocative villages where the films were filmed.

Sicily in the film we meet for the first time when Michael Corleone is forced to flee, taking refuge in the birthplace of the Corleone family, which is represented by the villages Motta Camastra, Forza D'Agrò and Savoca.
Savoca with its iconic Bar Vitelli where Michael asks married Apollonia and the Church of St. Nicholas where they celebrate the wedding, Forza d 'Agro with the Church of the Annunciation and its narrow streets.
Another important location, representing the Sicilian house of Corleone, is the Castello degli Schiavi in Fiumefreddo di Sicilia, an architectural example of Sicilian baroque rural dating from the 18th century.
The visit will be accompanied by the owner of the villa, the Barone Platania in person who will tell you the story of the house, filming and friendship with the director and the actors.
It is precisely at this location that shoots of the explosion of the car in which Apollonia dies, the negotiations with the Sicilian mafia and here the young Vito Corleone (Robert De Niro) takes the family in occasion of his revenge against the Sicilian boss who had forced him to flee to America. Later this will be the final scene of the trilogy in which old Michael Corleone (Al pacino) will die of old age.

The fans of the saga will be happy to review the famous locations and the lovers of good cinema will not remain indifferent to the places where the movie scenes have been turned into an icon of world cinema.
